Hello (UW) World!
Growing up as a kid in a dive shop, in with out a doubt, the most bio diverse place to go diving does come with a few perks. I’ve had a chance to explore tropical islands, experience life at sea and witness the changes in the dive industry. I’ve swam with massive whalesharks, hunted down some of the rarest critters and seen some of the most jaw dropping reefs all before my teens. The Philippines can be many things to different people, but one thing I’m sure of is its beauty and variety underwater. Here’s a short list of the favourite dive destinations in the Philippine Archipelago.
Moalboal – Best for Wall dives
Malapascua – Best for shark encounters (Threshers)
Mactan – Best place to get certified
Dauin – Best for dark sand muck dives
Sipalay – Best kept secret dive destination
Anda – Best for white sand macro dives and Flouro night dives
Panglao – Best dive and party combination
Camiguin – Best combination for diving and top side adventure activities
Anilao – The Nudi Capital and much more
Coron – Best WWII wreck dives
So. Leyte – Best “off the beaten path” dive destination
Tubbataha Reefs – Best of the best
Besides the destinations on the list, The Philippines is full of unknown dive sites and “secret gems”. Sea the philippine reefs through the eyes of the locals because lets face it,nothing beats local knowledge.
In the next blog entries we’ll go in depth (pun intended) to each of these destinations covering logistics, dive highlights and resorts.
